I have always been itching to photograph a proposal. The excitement you see in his face while explaining the details is priceless. Justin's fiance Allison was visiting friends in Brooklyn from Arizona. So what did he do? He flew out right after her. Took extra care to be on a different airline, so there would be no chance of running into Allison. Stayed in a quaint air bnb until the moment was right for her to see him. He explained that the moment she saw him, she would know what was happening.
He knew he was gonna marry her, as soon as he met her
They met a little over a year ago, and Justin wrote in his journal, that he knew he was gonna marry her shortly after meeting her, before the thought of dating even entered her head. So here he was in Brooklyn, about to propose to the love of his life. He spent hours in Prospect park walking, mapping, trying to find the very perfect spot. I met up with him the day before, to help him orchestrate the whole thing. Her friends would bring her to the park to "meet up with a friend." She didn't suspect a thing when they all got dressed up to go to the park, or her friends insisted that the do their nails the night before.
I hid behind a bush on a rock that was along the waters edge. While I managed to keep my balance and not go tumbling into the water, Justin waited patiently as they made their way down the overgrown path. After politely shooing away some grumpy park go-ers, Allison and her friends arrived at the secluded little waterfall only to see her man there waiting with some sunflowers and a ring.
I don't think I have every seen more smiles than I did in the little portrait session following the proposal. Makes my job so much easier. Congrats Justin and Allison!
